Selecting The Perfect Toddler High Chair

By Geoffrey Woods

Fitting out a nursery for a soon to arrive newborn baby is fun as well as a big deal for many parents. Baby nursery furniture is on of the best selling markets online as well as off-line. The high chair for babies is definitely a necessary piece of furniture and one that you will use time and time again for years.

There are thousands of different types of high chairs available in the market and their prices can really differ depending on which features are included. Whichever one you choose, remember that safety and practicality should be on the top of the list, not price.

High chairs that are of a decent quality have a few features in common. They are strong, sturdy, and allow you to really easily adjust the height to bring your infant up to the level of the table so that she may be fed more easily - it's function is that simple! However, invest in a more expensive chairs and you get cushions, reclining backs, dual trays along with toys attached to them to keep your toddler busy.

There are just so many styles and brands of baby chairs available for you to choose, but rather than considering price first, you should be looking first at your baby's safety. Find out if that particular model you're looking at buying meets high safety standards (with features like 5-point safety harnesses). You'll want a comfortable and safe seat for your little one.

Next look at the components of the high chair and the materials used in its construction. You might want to choose a foldable high chair if space is limited, or an aluminum one if you plan on carrying it around a lot. The detachable tray should also be light so you can remove them easily when not in use. Look for trays that come with a high rim so food doesn't easily fall on the floor.

While you're at it, you might like to consider also buying a portable high chair, just in case you decide to take your little one along with you for a family dinner or outing. Do not depend on restaurants to provide you with high chairs for dining. Most places will probably not have any and even if they do, you wouldn't want your baby sitting in them. These cheap chairs are not only dirty but are also very flimsy and are easy to tip over.

Buy a portable seat or chair that's light and compact, and easily attachable to a chair. These portable baby chairs come with slings that you can slip over the back of a chair or large object whilst allowing you to adjust the height of the seat as well.

Also available are hook on versions where the baby seat can be attached to a dining table. This is a great feature to have as you'll be able to bring your baby close to all the action without the need of an extra chair. If you want to purchase this style of baby feeding seats, you'll need to be sure the table you're clipping it to is strong enough to withstand the weight. - 30224
