The Nerf Longshot Is No Longer Just A Kid's Toy Anymore

By Russell Masina

When you were a kid, you probably ran around your basement or backyard pretending to play war or some variation on that theme. Your guns might have been sticks, or carved wooden pieces. If you were young from the eighties onwards, you might have even had Nerf guns, brightly colored air guns that shot soft foam balls or darts. Most kids love this kind of action play, and most adults like that their kids are tired out after a day of outdoor adventure play. However, some of the air guns that are being released by Nerf today, while still designed for kids, are also finding a lot of use in the hands of adults. This is the case with the Nerf Longshot, want to find our more read on.

The kids who grew up with Nerf guns are now adults. Some of them like to go paint balling on the weekends, while others engage in more sophisticated mock war games.

However, for those guys who want to mess around at the cabin with their friends on guys' weekend, Nerf guns are a much cheaper and safer bet. They fire foam balls or darts using air pressure and springs.

Since they are designed to be safe for six year olds, there are very few ways in which you can hurt yourself with a Nerf gun. Of course, many guys are also tempted to modify their guns to make them shot farther or faster as well, but that's half the fun.

If you purchase a Longshot, for instance, there is some minor assembly required before you can use the gun. The bolt lever needs to be attached before it will work. However, if you don't attach the bolt lever right away, you can unscrew the gun to get access to its mechanical innards.

The power of the Longshot, what gives it the ability to shoot up to thirty five feet, is an inner spring. If you add another spring from, for example, a toilet paper holder, you can double or even trip your range. The scope on this gun helps with your accuracy at these far ranges.

If you want to use the Longshot in the heat of battle, you'll appreciate that it comes with two preloaded clips of ammo so that you don't have to worry about reloading your gun, a tedious process in many Nerf guns. Yes, the Nerf Longshot is a great toy for both adults and kids. - 30224
