Teens And THE First Day Of School

By Gail Mardew

September is here, and that means one thing: summer is over, and its time to go back to school. It's back to classes, advanced subjects, teachers and homework. The funny thing is even though kids and teenagers bemoan the prospect of school opening again they in fact anticipate it at the same time. In fact, teenagers spend time thinking about what to wear and how to style their hair.

For students in public schools that don't require the use of uniforms, the first day back is a day to impress and show their friends how much they've changed or not changed over the summer. The clothes that a teenager will wear on his/her first day back in school is more often than not long deliberated and prepared for. Most of you probably requested for shopping money from their parents to have that perfect, desired look for THE first day back.

When choosing your clothes for the first day of school, don't go for too much extravagance. I would also advice you not to wear clothes that would restrain movement. Remember youll be seeing your friends again! Chances are you'll be very excited and active, moving around the place, jumping, hugging your friends, throwing high fives, etcetera.

Try to keep your look simple yet eye-catching. Wear bright, cheerful pastel colors to enhance a happy disposition. You can pair your jeans with a flattering blouse for girls, and polo shirts for boys. Blacks and grays are alright as long as the fabric is in good condition and the color is not dull. Otherwise, it will be unattractive. One more reminder for girls. If you want to wear a dress, make sure its not too short or youll have violation records at the very beginning of the school year, which is not the way it should be.

Be mindful of the weather too. It is getting unpredictable recently, but if the trend is going towards colder temperatures, then dont forget to put on a jacket. There are many fashionable jackets and coats to choose from in the market and online so there should be no worries in selecting one.

If you want your first day to start off with a happy note, make sure you've already prepared the clothes you'll need the night before. Yes, this is already foremost in the litany of must-dos that our parents frequently tell us but it's a word from the wise. It really sucks to have to run around the house at the last minute, searching for things you need to bring or accessories you wanted to wear. Also, the time you spend hunting around the house is much better spent leisurely beautifying yourself or eating breakfast.

Before you go to bed the night before first day of school, lay out the outfit you've decided on and prepare your belongings beforehand. There's no intention to sound like your parents here, just giving a useful bit of advice. It will save you the hassle of having to wake up very early and gather the things youll bring to school, or searching your drawers for accessories to wear. That time will be better spent leisurely doing your hair or taking your breakfast.

And finally, the cardinal rule before you enter the school gates on your first day back: have self confidence! Whats inside will really radiate on the outside. If you feel good about yourself and you are optimistic for the upcoming school year, you will surely start it with a bang. - 30224
