Your Young Child Will Ask For A Cell Phone

By Lanny Houghton

One day, your young child will come home and ask for a cell phone. This will happen because some other child in their class got one and now all the kids want one. Luckily, if you do decide to get one, you will have several choices of phones that are made specifically for young children.

If you are buying a cell phone for a young child, it should be one that is simple and easy to use. Most of the cell phones made specifically for kids have buttons that are programmable so that they can call you easily. All the important numbers they might need should be on those buttons and this should make them a little safer than they would be without one of these phones.

Most people would recommend some sort of pay as you go plan to make sure your child doesn't start out by using too many minutes. There are many prepaid plans to choose from and if you get one of them you, the parent, is still in control. Even if it is just for a year or two, a prepaid plan can help teach your child how to handle the responsibility of having a cell phone.

Parents wanting to protect their children have more technology at their hands than ever before. They can now even give their kids cell phones that have GPS capabilities. The GPS tracker is pretty new but many parents who are scared after hearing so many stories in the news about children being abducted will appreciate this feature. It seems the world is not as safe a place as it once was for kids and this has parents rightfully concerned. Of course the chance of something happening to your child is slim but with the new technology many parents want to be prepared.

One of the most popular kids cell phones is called Firefly and it has some preprogrammed keys that you can use to put in Mom's number and Dad's number. Additionally you can program it to only accept calls from 20 numbers that you approve. The younger your child is, the more likely they will want a phone like this that is fun looking for them and has the safety features you as a parent want. - 30224
