Backpack Baby Carriers - 3 Tips To Ensure You Get The Best

By Miranda Xavier

You don't have to give up being active just because you have a baby. With the help of a good backpack baby carrier your active life can continue.

The wrong baby carrier can soon put you off going out and there is nothing more soul destroying that being excluded because you have a baby. Check out the tips below to ensure that both you and your baby are active and happy.

1. Ensure you babies comfort - A uncomfortable baby will cry and whimper and you will not be able to enjoy your walk, so you need to be sure that your baby is happy and that if he/she falls asleep that they will stay comfortable.

Tip - There should be good padding all around the baby with plenty of cushioning around the head, so if the baby falls asleep they will still be comfortable.

If you child/ toddler is a little older or longer it is worth looking into foot straps. These straps stop the child's legs from swinging and they offer support for the child's lower back and pelvis.

2. Adult Comfort - A backpack baby carrier should be comfortable for the adult as well as the baby. If you do not have the correct carrier you will find that you soon suffer with neck, shoulder or back pain.

Tip - The straps around the shoulders and hips should be well padded and wide. They should be easy to adjust when the carrier is being worn. Finally the spine of the carrier should be adjustable.

3. Accessories - To ensure that your child has a safe and fun time it is important to have the correct accessories. The most important accessories are those pertaining to the weather.

Tip - A good carrier should have a suitable cover for wind, rain and sun. Wind burn is as uncomfortable as sun burn, especially on young skin, and rain is bound to cause tears (or howling) as well as lead to possible illness. These covers should attach securely and be easy to put on as the weather conditions change. Ideally the covers will be stored in a purpose designed, easily accessible compartment on the carrier. You should also have room in your carrier for spare clothes for the baby, nappies and snacks.

Some accessories seem bizarre and unnecessary, but you will be amazed what you get attached to. I became quite dependent on the little mirror which BushBaby have attached inside the hip support which allows you to check on the baby.

Finally, you will be amazed how much you can share with your child from an early age. Parenting is not just about sacrifices. - 30224
