Sixteen Gift Ideas For Your Daughter's Sweet Sixteen

By Sheila Dollarsby

All young girls look forward to the day that they will turn sixteen. There is nothing that really makes sixteen all that special in society, but for some reason little girls are anxious to celebrate that birthday. Maybe it's because for so long she has heard the saying "sweet sixteen" or maybe she has seen the movie "Sixteen Candles" or watched the television series "My Sweet Sixteen" on MTV. Whatever the case may be, little girls get so excited over their 16th birthday. So for parents, it is going to be important that you try and make your daughter's sweet sixteen the best that it can be. Using the following list of gift ideas, you will certainly help make your daughter's 16th birthday one that she will remember for a lifetime!

1. A Car. Every teenager wants a car so it's no surprise that your sixteen year old daughter will want one for her birthday. It doesn't have to be brand new, but it must be drivable and not embarrassing.

2. Flowers. Every girl wants flowers and most teenage girls have never received flowers. So send your daughter a beautiful bouquet of flowers on her 16th birthday, but make sure you send them to her at school so that everyone can see what she got.

3. Earrings. Give your daughter a set of earrings that are made of real precious metal and/or stone. If you have a family heirloom that would be even better; this way she can hold on to the memory and have something to look back on when she's all grown up.

4. A Ring. Most teenager girls don't own a real ring yet either. So pass one on to your daughter. She's finally old enough to wear one without losing it so trust her enough to give her one.

5. Manicure and Pedicure. Most mothers don't allow their daughters to get spa services until they are older. Let your daughter's sweet sixteen be her introduction to female pampering. She probably desperately wants to be like mom so give her a little taste with a professional manicure and pedicure.

6. Professional Make-Over. If you haven't let your daughter wear make-up yet, then now is the time to introduce her. Take her to Mac Cosmetics and let her have her make-up done by a professional make-up artist. It will not only boost her confidence, but will teach her how to properly apply make-up.

7. Hair Salon Hair. Take your daughter to have her hair professionally done by a real stylist. Let her get a new look; after all she isn't a baby anymore.

8. A New Dress. Every teenager longs to look a little older, so get your daughter a new party dress that she can wear out for a night on the town with her friends. It doesn't need to be too sexy; age appropriate will do.

9. New Room Decor. If your daughter's room is still stuck in her toddler years, then it's time for a change. Set a budget and update her room. Paint is one of the cheapest things you can do so if nothing else, give it a new paint job.

10. An Expensive Purse. Louis Vuitton, Coach, Dooney and Burke; any of these will make for a great designer bag that your daughter will love and love to show off!

11. Party. Almost all sixteen year old girls want to have a sweet sixteen birthday bash. If you don't make a big deal about this as a parent you will most certainly regret and your child will never forget it.

12. Birthday Cake. Along with a party, your daughter is going to need a cake. Whether it is homemade, store bought, or bakery made, make sure she has a cake in her favorite flavor with her favorite colors.

13. Wireless Phone. If your daughter doesn't have one, get her one. It's not cool, and it's not safe.

14. Decision Making Authority. Your daughter is growing up, and growing up always means more responsibility. But don't just give her more chores to do. Allow her to make some decisions on her own. She will appreciate the fact that you trust her and she will be better for it.

15. Credit Card. This one may be more than some are willing to give, but it is a good way to monitor what your daughter is buying and how much she is spending. And nowadays, they have prepaid credit cards so you can control how much your child spends.

16. Birthday Card from Her Parents. Never underestimate the power of love. Your teenager definitely wants to know that she's loved from her parents and like any woman, likes to have the love in writing. So if you can't do anything else for her, let her know how much your absolutely love her. - 30224
